FRIDAY 4th July 1:20pm
Thought I had better add something to this before the wizeekend kicks into full gear. Went to see Bruce Almighty on Wednesday night with my movie partner Ben. Flick was average not amazing not real bad, maybe see it on half price Tuesday's as $6 to see it isn't bad.
What I did see on Wednesday was a DVD that I brought "Jerry Seinfeld: Comedian" which is one of the most amazing things I have seen for a long time. As you may know Jerry "retired" his routine after Seinfeld finished it's 9th series with the "I'm Telling You For The Last Time" world tour, he played 4 times in Melbourne and if you didn't go see it you are bumming! My mouth hurt the next day from smiling so much, just seeing him walkout was something I will never forget (if you didn't know, I love Jerry).
So anyway's, the documentary follows Jerry as he works on a totally new act. He starts off with like a 5-minute routine and works up over half a year an hour set. It's amazing to watch how much agony one of in my opinion the funniest people on the planet goes through trying to be funny. Through out the movie he consults fellow comedians Garry Shandling, Chris Rock, Bill Cosby and Jay Leno about the pain he is going through.
I've watched this thing like 7 times in a couple of days. I put a great importance in humour and being funny it's one of my favourite things about people and something I wish I could be. I think making someone laugh is one of the best things to do for a person. It's refreshing to see my comedic hero having such a struggle with it. A funny thing on the DVD extras is the story how Larry David (Seinfeld co-creator) was thinking about doing stand up again until he saw the movie and told Jerry it put him off even thinking about it.
Last night I went to Anna's house to try to disrupt her packing as she is leaving on a 7-week holiday today. Ben is also off for like a month pretty soon so my three usual nighttime partners in crime (Kate the notorious PRK is also overseas) will all be on the other side of the planet. Good thing I have that new Seinfeld DVD to watch! It is sad to see her go.
We chatted about if when she comes back if anything will have changed over the 7 weeks. I have only ever been away from home for a month at the longest so and I really didn't notice a difference in people, but we'll see. We agreed that if I happend upon a girl in the 7 weeks it would be a given that Anna would dislike her no matter how nice she was HA HA HA (sorry Anna, but you are out of the country and can't yell at me).
After that I went to the Metro which was packed but with not many peeps of mine. Saw Claire (who is moving into Anna's house), Wade, Dillon, Cassie and Ben (but he was running around trying to look like he does work there). My newish friend Jackie has been dying to see my bedroom (well lot's of girls want that but it's not like that you dirty minded pigs) as she is a big Star Wars fan, so Jackie here it is, as seen in Empire magazine...
GEEK! This is my old Prahran bedroom when I lived with Clint. |
Tonight it's down to Mornington for a nizite on the tizown with my southern peninsula peeps, should be very much fun. Can't wait. Life is good!
FRIDAY 11th July 1:32pm
Sorry I have not updated this week. Just read in the paper that Greeks On Roof isn't getting axed, my question is: WHY NOT! Anyone for anything fun to do Saturday night, my plans are lacking!
MONDAY 14th July 1:32pm
I have to do a proper update for this thing. I just need to get my head around what the hell I was doing on Saturday night, maybe Hizza can shed some light on it for me as I remember sitting at the bar with her for a while.
I got a few random e-mails over the weekend from some guy one of them said (in reference to me having no plans for Saturday night)...
"Ha ha ha I'm getting in trouble for emailing you from this address cos its not me, it my friends when I'm drunk. Where have you been?! You have no friends? I think maybe your clothes are a little dysfunctional but your shoelaces are cool and I bought a pair. Also you are a little arrogant and maybe if you were nicer you would have more plans? Just a thought I am having"
Well at least he got some laces! But if I wasn't that arrogant imagine the type of friends I would attract. Like the type of person that gets drunk and sends little hater e-mails from other people's accounts. That would be wacktacular!
THURSDAY 17th July 4:56pm
Hey I got a complaint letter from my "fiance" English Emma that she can't keep up on Melbourne gossip as I've been slack. So sorry Emma, I'm on some updates for ya.
(Now just so I don't get yelled at by girls at the Metro EMMA IS NOT MY FIANCE IT'S A JOKE = GEEZ)
My pal Prior has bitten my style and made a website of his own.
Two people so fucked they have their own websites! |
But in an effort to make this sizzite even more "oh my gawd" I've bitten Prior's style and made a forum where you can write messages and stuff. And as a bonus for the haters you don't even have to log in (but if your not posting hate then do log in)... GO TO TOWN FOOL!
MONDAY 21th July 9:42pm
Well I'll try to get some catch up going on all up in thus pizziece!
Hmmm what's been going on? I've been going to a few comedy shows of late. They have Champagne Comedy on at the Comic's Lounge every Monday night where they tape a couple of people for channel 31, have one headliner who is too big for Ch 31 and then have about 6 rookie comics afterwards. It's pretty fun, even when the comic sucks. It's amazing what people think is going to kill, the go into these go no where antidotes that tale like 4 minutes to get to the nonexistent punchline! It's actually pretty sad when they realise their bits are sucking, but I commend them all on getting the guts to do it. I went there last a fortnight ago with Tebb and Elisha who left early in disgust at the latter acts.
The other club which has a good night is on Friday nights on Lt Latrobe street where it's $10 for the show and a pizza, that's a good deal! The first guy that night was so so bad, but this girl who played songs was too funny. I'll find out what that place is called as it's pretty cool.
Ben and me went to Switch one night and Ben was a spaz that night. Wade did one of the funniest things I have ever seen chasing this girl around the club screaming at her. Too good.
Clint had his single launch last Thursday night at the Palace that was pretty fun. Got to catch up with all the Peninsula crew, but only saw Clint for like 5 minutes as he had to do the "talk to all these people" thing. I just saw that his song is the "song" for the Secret Life of Us this week = cool. But I had to watch a full fucking episode of Rove to see him play = not cool. THAT SHOW SUCKS, isn't it meant to be funny or something. Why does he think that if he says every second sentence twice it will be funny? And that opening monologue? He has a bunch of writers and a week and that's all he can come up with = WEAK! Letterman and Conan dish out the gizold every freaking night!
Apart from seeing all the usual crew at the gig I also saw some people from the school daze where I got the "what are you doing these days" question. I now just succumb to the "just doing my thing" line which could mean...
A) Stacking shelves at Coles.
B) Running drugs.
C) Doing nothing.
Oh well, I know what I'm doing!
Saw "The Real Cancun" which was so so funny. I definitely suggest having a few drinks before seeing this one or sneaking in a beverage as it's a great party movie. Sadly I had many many drinks before and during the film and was acting so strange at a party I went to afterwards. One girl who I had kissed a few years ago was talking to me when I say "you hate me don't you", she asks "why"? I'm "because I know you do" she promptly walks off! I think I talked Hilary's ear off about nothing for like an hour.
The other film I saw was Terminator 3 which was soooo tight, very nice. I'm a sucker for such films but was a bit worried about if it would live up to the hype and continued to worry for the first 15 or so minutes of the film. But it killed. Arnie has some great one liners and the plot had some entertaining little twists. Go see it!
After seeing T3 on Friday night, I kept to the theme and played the new T3 pinball which is a very good pinball. Then hit the town with Lars and Slick Nick, which was instantly good as I won $50 off Lars for the year that T2 was released in Australia. He had 92 to now; I had 1991 back to year 0001. Thanks for that Lars! We were very Swingers like going from bar to bar declaring each one lame. This was until we got the call from Mapstone and we met up with him and crew at Mai Tai for some crazy cocktails. Nick declared that Asian girls love him and they did! Whoa he was popular.
Brendon and his friend Adam stayed down last week, which was pretty fun, plenty of skating. We all went out to Maryborough for a demo to raise money to fight youth suicide, which was a ton of fun. Brendon and Adam drank sambuca and Ouzo the two-hour trip home and could barely get on their bus that night (which was taking them back to Sydney). I was laughing about how bummed the people in front of them on the bus were going to be and I got a message from Brendon at about 2:00am "oi just saying ha ha the people in front of us are sooooo pissed" at least that's what I think it said as there were many typos in it.
After dropping off everyone from the demo home I went out in Sorrento with Craig, Kirsty, Sean, Jenny, Nathanal & Lol. At the Sorra pub it was pretty wacktakular. I saw this girl I went out with for about 2 weeks in the younger highschool years and she was all what do you do now "um... just doing me thing" (I would have come up with something better if I had any interest I'm sure). "Oh you still ride your skateboard around you always loved to skate around" really quite patronisingly! I was just thinking fuck you! I make good coin off skateboarding and am about to go on my 4th skate industry funded trip to America, plus it's hella fun. What was funny was Jenny trying as hard as possible not to make eye contact with her so she wouldn't have to talk to her = too good.
The pub closed at a mere 12:30 so there was talk of going to the Conti nightclub which is so fucking bad that even I didn't want to go into to (which is amazing for me on a Saturday night). So half of us got a cab leaving Sean, Nathanal, Lol and me to get on the shuttle bus home. There were 3 girls on the bus already and I'm not sure how it started but within minutes this one girl and me were having a heated verbal battle. At the start her friend was telling me to shut up but half way through the friend was telling the girl to stop saying stuff back as she was getting servery burnt. The girl had become a pogly bit of charcoal after zinger after zinger. Nathanal and Sean were in tears. Lol wasn't supportive at all, which was fucking lame; she had all the makings of a hater that night actually. The bus ride home was so fun!
Girl: "Well maybe we should get off to sort this out"
Me: "I don't think we could ever sort out me getting off with you"
Regie won Big Brother just now, that's so cool.
TUESDAY 22th July 11:15am
Yes! They are having two sessions of the Gator doco at the international film festival. Gator was a top pro skater in the 80's who ended up killing his girlfriend and is in jail. I have been hanging for this film since my friend Shane saw it in Jan, I'm sure I'll see many of you at on of these two screenings!
STOKED: THE RISE AND FALL OF GATOR
Director: Helen Stickler
Country: USA
Stoked is a phenomenal skating history with a rockin' soundtrack, featuring music from a bunch of 80s hardcore acts such as Black Flag and Butthole Surfers, outrageous interviews with every major skater of the past two decades and killer action footage. Director Helen Stickler has gone one step further by weaving all this into the stranger than fiction story of Mark 'Gator' Rogowski, at one time the most famous skater on the planet.
Tony Hawk, Stacy Peralta, Steve Caballero and Christian Hosoi were there to witness Gator's rise alongside the burgeoning popularity of skating. Gator's fall was just as swift; fame, alcohol and murder saw him wind up in a Californian prison where he will most likely spend the rest of his life.
A sobering joyride through the life of 80s pro-skater Rogowski, whose bad-boy-in-spandex theatrics helped transform a stoner-kid hobby into an industry. When the 'Gator' brand lost its cool, Rogowski lost his wits, eventually brutally murdering a woman and burying her in the desert. Rogowski's true-crime tale has its own inherently lurid appeal but Stickler illustrates the broader processes of how a self-created youth subculture capitulates to the commercial mainstream.
Helen Stickler is a guest of the Festival

Wednesday night I went to this secret sneaker sale thing that my friend Woody that does Sneaker Freaker organised. It was pretty good, but would have been amazing if you were size 9 as there were a ton of awesome samples there for sale. I did get some very dizzope Air Safari kicks which apparently is 1 of only 50 in Australia.
After that I went to play soccer, yep, soccer!!! Who would have thunk it? It was for the Blindside Skateshop soccer team at this indoor place in Albert Park. There's nothing quite like being extremely useless at something is there: I sucked. It's actually a very tiring little game the sweat was in full effect. Adrian who works at Hardcore also is on the team and he's like that battery that plays soccer on that advert, he's all over the place! Hot!!! We played these guys that had full uniforms and were fully into it and thus we were trounced 17 to 2. Luckily our poor showing got us demoted to a lower division so next week we can loose by a bit less.
Last night I went skating for a bit with Steve at the Box Hill flat bars which was ok fun, Steve skated pretty good. Then went to the Metro to watch the new Transworld Video in which Rob Welsh rules, so many good new tricks. Had a few too many shots of Yeager or whatever that crap is called. That stuff is nuts I highly recommend it to anyone that needs a quick HOLLA to their nights festivities = WHOA!!!
With a bunch of skate crew there it was hella hella fun. A special holla to Kath who I always leave out of my on the tizown recaps.
So I've been getting some strange messages on my phone and e-mail of late and tonight the girl who sent them kept ringing me (I don't know who it is ya see) and apologised for the some gnarly e-mail she sent me. I didn't get this e-mail so she tells me her live journal name so I can read it and it's quite quite strange.
PEEP IT HERE - THIS IS A MUST READ!!!
Um... Oooooooo.K. then!
SUNDAY 27th July 11:29pm
I just reread that crazy letter, whoa there is some strange shit up in that piece!
Oh my god, Yeager fucking rules!!!
Saturday went skating with Steve at Country Road until it started pouring rain so we went into the city to watch the latest videos at PSC. Saw the On Video thing about the old Blind Video Days flick and it filled my heart with joy.
Night time was off to Rochelle's birthday in Fitzroy but not before having the biggest anxiety attack about not having any clean clothes to wear, I fully lost the plot (I was a bottle of champagne deep at the time) this is a fairly girlish thing to do, but have you ever seen how many shoes I have?
At the party which was at some upstairs bar I ended up teaming with the Mornington/Mt Eliza crew where we formed TEAM YEAGER (yeagermister or whatever, I need to learn how to spell that word). Lot's of people must have joined TEAM YEAGER as I remember dropping $65 on one round of shots = yikes! We got so so shizzel in the fizzel it was the hezzy (huh, what). Andrew Jo was an absolute classic, he had this evil drunken grin and was 'causing much havoc with the bar staff. Somehow we managed to keep him from getting kicked out. Those guys were all-time, I think it was Heath that told me about the funniest bet they all have going which I really can't type about here. Much props to Jez who got me out of this crazy mood I was in. There were about 5 members of TEAM YEAGER that got so so so YEAGERED it was ridiculous there were some very loose dance floor moves getting thrown down.
Things are very hazy but I do remember stopping the music to count down to Rochelle's birthday while standing on a couch. That Yeager shit makes you go freaking loopy I tells ya. At about 1:30 I left in a staggering mess and for some retarded reason got a cab to freaking switch by myself. By this time I'm about as YEAGERED as you can be with out passing out as the many people I rang in the cab can a testify to. The cab driver was praying I didn't have any cash just so he had a valid reason to kick the shit out of me.
Bronwyn hooked me a huge pile of drink cards one of which I used drank half of and realised that more alcohol was really not in my best interest. So I gave my cards away (I think about 6 to Kath so I guess she may be feeling a bit out of it today) and got a lift home. I was there for a good 15 minutes I believe.
Today was very very mellow as you could imagine. Ben came around and we walked about the entire length of Chapel St. Disc Entertainment are having a huge ex-rental DVD sale so I got 3 for $12 each = that's good DVD value.
MONDAY 28th July 10:40pm
My friend Drew score's this weeks e-mail of the week...
I am not sure what I find more disturbing
That e-mail
Or
The fact that you have your own forum?
Drew
Excellent input Drew.
My friend Olivia just called me from Amsterdam so that was cool. She let me know that her sister (and my first kiss/crush) is about to have her twins, whoa! Stuff like that is always a bit strange when your still out on the town several times per-week kicking it freestyle.
This week should be pretty damn dope...
Tomorrow night is the Gator Documentary.
Wednesday is... well nothing.
Thursday Clint and I are going to see the WWE (WWF) Wrestling at Rod Laver (holla).
Friday night I'm going to see this comic I have a crush on even though I have only seen two photos of her and read an article that she wrote. She did seem to have some spunk and dislike things though, we'll see if she lives up to the Steele imposed hype. It's should be fun to see her move and speak!
Saturday night is the PSC "school uniform party" which should be amazingly funny. I'll be busting out the camera to grab some no doubt epic shots for the site for you, the valued visitor to enjoy. Team Jager should be in full effect!
Georgina left me a message that my fav new drink is spelled jagermeister. Thanks Georgie, when I'm around it I'm in no mood to check spelling!!!
TUESDAY 29th July 10:40pm
Well the mystery e-mail and phone call maker has been found out. I might be a prick but I'm not a total prick so I'll keep their identity under wraps. It's all in good fun... I guess. A bit of fun for all of us for the week eh. Ta mystery e-mailer!
The Gator movie was sold out so I'm at home where I hope to do some house organisational duties. So I'm stuck with the Saturday afternoon session, which will through my Saturday into disarray. For those that don't know the tragic deal with ex-pro skater Gator here's a link.
Go write me a message!!!
Go back in time with Steele...
